The
Indian Railways generated a revenue of Rs 3,281.74 crore from June 11 to 20 this year, marking a 23.16 per cent increase over the same period last year.
The total goods earnings have increased from Rs 1,800.83 crore between June 11-20, 2011 to Rs 2,330.99 crore during the same period this year, showing an increase of 29.44 per cent, an official release said.
The total passenger revenue earnings from June 11-20 were Rs 835 crore compared to Rs 756.92 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 10.32 per cent.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 81.16 crore during this period as against Rs 71.29 crore last year, showing an increase of 13.84 per cent.
The total approximate
numbers of passengers booked during the period were 254.76 million compared to 232.49 million during the same period last year, an increase of 9.58 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked were 139.46 million and 115.30 million compared to 122.30 million and 110.19 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 14.03 per cent and 4.64 per cent respectively.
