Lenovo's new Vibe X2 is a candy bar touch phone with a unique design element. It claims to be the world's first layered smartphone. What this means is that there are multiple layers on the edge of the phone. With the display at the front, there are three layers that distinctly stand out. My review unit had the shades of golden and orange layers.

The Vibe X2 has a five-inch full HD IPS display. The colours appear rich and the text sharp. The display is good for watching multimedia content. The device looks sleek and is easy to use with a single hand.

Lenovo has added a custom user interface, Vibe UI. The best thing about the Vibe UI is the ability to capture images from the lock screen itself, even before the phone wakes up. The overall performance of the Vibe X2 is impressive. It is powered by 2.0Ghz True8Core processor MediaTek processor and is paired with 2GB of RAM.

In comparison to other smartphones in this price category, the Vibe X2 is far superior. There wasn't any lag while streaming videos or multitasking. The Vibe X2 has one microSIM slot and one nano SIM.

The smartphone packs in a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing one. The images were not outstanding on the default mode, but improved after changing the settings a bit. The selfie camera is also average. The battery lasted one day on a single charge.
