The Indian Premier League (IPL) Mini Auction 2023 will be conducted on December 23, where the 10 participating teams will be seen struggling to get the players on board before the fresh season next year. The Friday event is not the mega auction, only a few players will go under the hammer this time. As per the updated list, a total of 405 players will be available for fresh bids on Friday. The teams are looking to fill the remaining 87 slots.

When and where to watch 

The auction will be held on December 23 in Kochi. The auction will start at 2.30 PM IST. The session will be shown live on Star Sports. The live streaming of IPL Auction 2023 will be live-streamed on JioCinema. Jio Customers can watch IPL Auction 2023 for free.  

Rules for IPL auction 

  • As per BCCI’s rules, the 10 franchises cannot spend more than 75 per cent of the total budget, which comes out to be a total of Rs 174.3 crore. 
  • Every franchise’s squad will have at least 18 players and a maximum of 25. 
  • There will be no Right to Match (RTM) card option in the IPL Auction 2023.  
  • The BCCI will introduce the concept of the Impact player. Impact players might get auctioned at the Friday event. 
  • The BCCI has increased each team's budget by Rs 5 crore, giving all franchises a total of Rs 95 crore to finalise their squad. 
  • All of the players on the shortlist will not go under the hammer.  
  • The Friday event will see an accelerated process/round where the franchises will provide a list of players to be presented in the auction.  
  • The players can be picked up from that list. 
  • The auction will begin with the player No. 87 and continue until player No. 405, the BCCI has stated in a letter to all franchises.
