Last Friday (July 27) saw two big releases:
Balaji Telefilm's
Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum and Fox Star Studio's
Ice Age 4: Continental Drift.
Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum is a sequel to the same production house's
Kya Kool Hain Hum, and like its predecessor, is doing better at box office than expected, especially in Maharashtra and Gujarat. It had a good first weekend, collecting Rs 22 crore at the
domestic box office.
On its first day, Friday, alone it grossed Rs 6.5 crore, which makes it the eighth best first day collection of the year. The list is topped by
Agneepath which earned Rs 22 crore on the first day.
Ice Age 4: Continental Drift hasn't created a flutter that
Batman or
Spiderman have managed but has done business of Rs 5 crore.
Among films already running, the Saif-Deepika starrer
Cocktail saw a drop in its third weekend collection, which was around Rs 3 crore. The film has collected Rs 72 crore in 17 days in all. It is expected to do a total business of around Rs 80 crore.
Bol Bachchan collected around Rs 10 crore in its third week. The total collection so far is around Rs 94 crore.
Bol Bachchan is holding its own well in many parts of the country. The Ajay Devgn produced film is expected to do better than his previous hit,
Singham.
The last edition of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy,
The Dark Knight Rises is barely holding its second week having collected just Rs 6 crore in the weekend compared to Rs.17 crore in the first weekend. The film has collected a total of around Rs 31 crore so far and is expected to finish at around Rs 40 crore, including all the dubbed versions that will put it in the top ten of Hollywood releases in India so far.
The
Amazing Spiderman has made a total of Rs.48 crore and is completing its run on big screens and is the third biggest Hollywood film of all time in India.
