Nana Patekar-Shreyas Talpade starrer Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal is set for a wash out at the box office, as collections throughout the country are abysmal. Movie goers were seen to prefer the
Akshay Kumar-Paresh Rawal starrer OMG Oh My God over the Priyadarshan-directed movie during the weekend.
A poor show on the first day didn't help the movie's business either. Collections were seen at about Rs 1-1.25 crore*. The film fared badly in North India with Delhi, UP collecting just about Rs 17 lakh.
Shreyas Talpade plays the timid protagonist Johnny, a nervous wreck who gets bashed up even by the kids.
Johnny is in love with Maria (Madhurima) but there's a problem. His father David (Om Puri) is a sworn enemy of her father Peter (Paresh Rawal). Worse, Peter happens to be the village goon. When a tough stranger, Sam (Nana), comes to the village, Johnny finds a bodyguard of sorts in him. Soon, it is obvious Sam has his own motive for landing in the village.
Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal
faired comparatively better in Maharashtra making better collections in Mumbai, CP Berar and Nizam compared to other circuits. The film had around 50 per cent collections on Day 1 from Mumbai circuit, when the norm is 35 per cent.
The film has little hope at doing anything at the box office and may not even show much of an upturn going forward.
