box-office tally to around Rs 40 crore, according to estimates.
"Shootout At Wadala" was released on May 3, the same day "Bombay Talkies" hit the screens.
"Shootout At Wadala" is the story of Mumbai police's first official encounter when they gunned down gangster Manya Surve, played by John Abraham.
The movie gives a glimpse of the rampant gang wars in Bombay at that time that culminates in a face-off between the gangsters and the police.
Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Manoj Bajpai also play leading roles in the gangster flick.
