
Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, also known as Tirupati Balaji, has opened a demat account to accept donations from devotees in the form of shares and securities.
The temple is India's richest in terms of donations received and one of the most visited places of worship in the world.
Central Depository Services Limited has handed over the demat documents to the temple's managing board, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
The temple has opened its account in Stock Holding Corporation of India. The account number is 1601010000384828. According to temple officials, the move is an attempt by the board to help devotees contribute to the temple without any hassle.
Tirupati Balaji already accepts online payments and donations made in foreign currency.
