
Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan starrer romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu Returns seems to have hit just the right chord with the audiences as the film has already earned Rs 129 crore in India and is looking at crossing Rs 225 crore-mark worldwide.
Boxofficeindia.com claims that the sequel to Tanu Weds Manu is likely to cross Rs 225 crore mark worldwide soon.
The movie has already earned Rs 165 crore worldwide within two weeks of its release, its makers have claimed.
The Aanand L Rai directed-movie, produced by Eros International, has made a net collection of Rs 103.47 crore and Rs 36 crore overseas.
Elated at the positive response by the viewers to the movie, Rai said, "Nothing can be bigger and more encouraging than this for a filmmaker. I'd like to thank everyone for accepting the film with so much warmth."
The movie has Kangana in a double role-- a rebellious Tanuja and a young Haryanvi college student Datto. The film opened to a thunderous response at the box office with screens packed to capacity. "TWMR is not just our film anymore, it now belongs to the audiences. After a long time viewers are enjoying a real entertainer and we are witnessing families flocking to cinemas and also repeat viewings," said Nandu Ahuja, Senior VP, India Theatrical, Eros International Media Limited.
Eros International released the film across 2200 screens in India and 350 screens overseas.
The film has shown unprecedented response and outperformed across all territories, creating box office history in regions like UAE. Like in India, the film is the biggest opener this year in the overseas markets too, said Pranab Kapadia, President, Marketing and Distribution, Eros International Plc. The film opened to decent reviews and good public response.
