Care for it, flaunt it

Skin care
Mask it: During winter, dryness is a major problem. Use cleansing milk to clean your skin. Exfoliate your skin once a week and follow it up with a hydrating face mask.

A drop of oil: Add a few drops of almond or olive oil to the water you are using to bathe. Alternatively, lightly rub some oil on your body before getting under the shower. Avoid using very hot water as this will only decrease the natural oils in your skin.
Hair care
Soft ‘n’ silky: As the winter winds play havoc with your hair, give it a deep conditioning. Since the cold weather causes your hair to dry, massage your hair for a few minutes with aloe vera juice once a week. This will help restore the moisture and softness.
Say ‘olive’: Treat your hair with oil massage once or twice a week. Olive oil can work wonders in reinforcing moisture in your hair. If you are used to treating your hair with herbal extracts or herbal oil, don't keep it on for a long time. Herbal ingredients are mostly cooling agents that are more suited for the summer. Do not wash your hair too frequently.
Wool warning: Woollen clothing like hats and scarves can cause damage to your hairline. Since they can cause breakage, cover your hair first with a silk scarf before exposing it to winter wraps.
Trim it right: Winter’s when the split ends work their way up to the hair shafts. Hence, trim your split ends.
Stick to brands: For stylised, coloured and straightened hair, it’s time to take extra care. Says Rimjhim, hair expert at the Ravissant Beaute, a wellness salon in New Delhi: “The first step to healthy stylised hair is to use the products that your expert has advised and not cheap replacements. This will help maintain style as well as the quality of your hair.”
