Enchanting escapes

With summer just round the corner, this is the time to book that exotic holiday. And what better way to kick-start things than to book yourself and your family into one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. When we decided to do a cover story on Enchanting Escapes for this issue, we hunted down Mark Greedy—just the right man for the job. The Vice President (Asia-Pacific) of the Leading Hotels of the World spent a day with us choosing eight of his favourite hotels across the six continents. Each one passed through the same filter—they had to be unique not just from the point of view of luxury but also for its location and accessibility to places of tourist interest.

Finding out the unique features of each of the hotels, to justify their presence on our pages, led to several phone calls, meetings with leading officials of international hotel associations and, of course, furious rounds of e-mails. Greedy, who has travelled and stayed at all these hotels, chipped in by justifying why he had chosen each place. His comments will give you a feel of what it would be like to stay at these fabulous resorts. To spice up the cover package, we also got a couple of well-known people from the world of fashion and entertainment to tell us about their favourite holiday destinations. Read their first person accounts for a different flavour altogether.
