New York state of mind

Deemed "the Oscars of the Food World" by Time magazine, the James Beard Foundation Awards are America's most coveted for chefs and restaurateurs. This year's awards (pic above) were conferred at a huge gala in May at Lincoln Center in Manhattan, with New York restaurants gobbling up the top honours. While Marea, at Central Park South, was named the best new restaurant, Daniel on the Upper East Side, specialising in Italian style sea food, won in the outstanding restaurant category.
