Sojourn

Dhyan is the journey of concentration and tranquility of the mind depicted using paintings.

Artist Shampa Sircar Das has put together a combined exhibition of paintings that depict the confluence of the conscious reality with the metaphysical. Dhyan depicts the state of the mind when one begins to seek and realise the essence of all truth: the search for moksha.

Shampa Sircar Das uses mix media and acrylic on canvas to assimilate and cultivate compositions that transfer into her paintings as echoing impressions of the search for moksha. Das' works emerge out of a fluid state of creation. Her paintings bring alive in vivid colours the duality of the male and female, light and darkness, the demon and the saint. Buddhist symbols like the lotus, fish and bells depict a state of mystical trance.

Das trained as a painter at the BFA College of Art in New Delhi and has participated in Art Singapore and other group shows as well as solo exhibitions in New Delhi and Mumbai.
