DU's Department of Financial Studies offers intensive finance programme

Priyamvada Jha, a 2013-15 batch student at the Department of Financial Studies (DFS), had offers from IMT Ghaziabad, Delhi School of Economics, and IMI Delhi, among other institutes. The Ranchi native, however, opted for DFS.

"With just 40 students in a batch, every student gets better attention from the faculty and also the placements prospects improve. Usually, business schools have batches of 300 to 400 students, so placements become difficult and highly competitive."

For Professor C.P. Gupta, Head of DFS, the unique thing about the institute is that it helps nurture financial leaders. It offers highly intensive and exclusive finance programme to meet the challenges facing the financial world. "Being a part of the University of Delhi, we do not face any challenge in getting quality full-time faculty. The Department [regularly] organises programmes which have interactions [and thus establishes links] with the industry..."
