India Today Conclave 2012 was a riveting affair

Controversies, brilliant minds, great insights, glamour... this year's India Today Conclave was a riveting affair.

The 11th India Today Conclave might go down as one of the more controversial, but it will also be remembered as one of the most memorable. The theme this year was "The Asian Century: Securing the Global Promise." While social activist Anna Hazare and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger enthralled the audience, it was Salman Rushdie who stole the show.

The India-born author tore into Pakistani politician and former cricketer Imran Khan, who pulled out when he realised Rushdie was attending the conclave. In fact, Rushdie's inclusion saw some other speakers withdraw as well. But, as Aroon Purie, Editor-In-Chief of the India Today Group, said: "We don't endorse the views of any of the speakers at the conclave, but we strongly believe in the freedom of expression." Other luminaries in attendance included politicians, business leaders and a host of Bollywood stars. Reports and interviews from the Conclave follow, more of which can be viewed and watched at conclave.intoday.in.
