Biggest deals of the year 2010

Sunil Mittal is now busy building a global footprint for his group. Bharti Airtel acquired Zain Group's mobile services operation, Zain Africa BV, in the blockbuster deal of the year with an enterprise value of Rs  50,389 crore ($10.7 billion).

Bharti has now become one of the five largest mobile operators in the world, with operations across 18 countries in Asia and Africa covering about 1.8 billion people. It is expected to benefit from the low competition in Africa, since Zain is the market leader in 10 out of the 15 countries in which it operates and the second-largest player in four countries.
