Yet another Indian agri business company has turned solution provider. Coromandel Fertilisers, the biggest contributor to the Murugappa Group’s annual turnover, has just reinvented itself as one, even undergoing a re-branding exercise to drive home the point. “Coromandel International (that is how the company is now called) is now a solution and service provider to the farmer and has got into retail as against a pure play MRP fertiliser producer,” says A. Vellayan, Chairman of the company.

The company is offering farmers solutions that include soil testing, guidance in adopting newer applications and cost and other time-saving solutions. Coromandel plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore over two years to build its manufacturing capacities and for investments abroad.
