What it means: An external consultant bought in to reduce headcount in an organisation.

Origin: The word became popular in the US in the mid-1990s. It's drawn from the popular horror movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Usage: As the CEO, I do not sack people. I just get a chainsaw consultant to do the dirty job.
