1. November 2007 The government agrees to implement mobile number portability, or MNP, in the four metros by 2008.
2. January 2009 The Department of Telecom invites bids from providers of MNP services and solutions.
3. March 2009 Global firms Telecordia and Syniverse selected to provide MNP solutions in 11 circles each.
4. January 2011 After prolonged delays, MNP is launched across all the 22 telecom circles in the country
5. May 2011 Number of users availing MNP reaches 10 million. Vodafone and Idea are the biggest gainers
