Review: Sony Vaio SVE14A and Adobe CS 6
A flashy full-sized laptop and advanced software to add more life to pictures.

Laptop's Comeback
There is life beyond ultrabooks. Sony Vaio SVE14A is proof. This full-sized laptop, part of Sony's new E-series, has a flashy design with a red band running across the black matte body. Its performance, powered by the Intel Core i5-2450M Processor 2.50 GHz with Turbo Boost, is smooth and fast. The AMD Radeon graphics card and dedicated video memory also makes this a good option for gaming and video junkies. Adding to the entertainment quotient is the 14-inch LED backlight monitor and really loud speakers that use Xloud technology. Like other Vaio models, this one too has a dock that will help you keep your desktop clean.

Adobe CS 6
Picture this
The Adobe Creative Suite 6 has 13 upgraded modules with Photoshop alone showcasing 650 new features. The new customisable interface of Photoshop is minimalist and of a darker tone so the focus stays on the images. The crop tool has evolved and now you can crop and straighten the image with a single tool. Thanks to the new Mercury graphics engine, you can also zoom, rotate and scale the image as you crop. There is also the added convenience of being able to search layers by name, type or colour. Automatic correction has become more precise with lens correction to straighten barrel and pincushion distortions. Now, you just have to click icons for the effects you need to add, instead of opening each section separately.
