Miele Guide 2013 enlists Asia's Top 20 restaurants
The Miele Guide 2013 enlists Asia's Top 20 restaurants and also unveils an additional 500 places to eat at.

With Asia looking more and more attractive for business, the region has seen a growth in business travellers. Keeping this in mind, the Miele Guide, which takes on the annual task of listing the Top 20 restaurants that rule the culinary roost, has listed Asia's Top 20 for 2013.
The elimination and selection process is extensive, and is subject to the opinion of both critics and the public. Voters get to cast their ballot by choosing from among a shortlist of restaurants selected by a panel of 73 of the world's most respected restaurant critics and food writers. After four rigorous rounds of voting, this year highlighted 17 countries and a grand total of 500 restaurants (exceeding last years entrants by 50) that made the final cut. This years crowned winner is Robuchon au Dome in Macau, which received an extensive facelift and name change last year, and has replaced Singapore's much-loved Iggy's which has moved down to fourth place. Previously called Robuchon a Galera and described as 'old and anachronous,' the restaurant has transformed into a casual albeit chic contemporary space run by French celebrity chef Joel Robuchon.
Chef Tetsuya Wakuda's Waku Ghin in Singapore is in second place and is undeniably the place to go for some of the most delectable cuts of meat. While Hong Kong and Singapore lead the listings with five restaurants each in the Top 20 rankings, Shanghai, Bali, Seoul, Tokyo and both New Delhi and Chennai also get much-deserved space. With Dakshin in Chennai taking the 16th slot for its delicious southern cuisine, Bukhara in New Delhi just about slips in at number 20.
In addition to Asia's Top 20 for 2013, the Miele Guide also enlists the top five restaurants in each of the countries featured in the guide (with the exception of those with very few restaurants listed) and further gives the scoop on 480 restaurants that are Asian favourites.
