Blame Game
Your cover story Low on Gas (March 18) was a good one. Reliance Industries's problems with the Oil Ministry have persisted for a while. In 2011, the CAG had criticised the ministry for not meeting customers' requirements. With the continuing fall in gas output at Reliance's KGD6 oilfields, many are being forced to import costly LNG. The government and RIL are blaming each other for the mess. I am not surprised that the government had favoured RIL earlier and is now saving its back by blocking its way.

Alert for FM
The purchasing power of the rupee is declining fast because the government has failed to control inflation (Last Chance to Get it Right, March 18). The rise in the cost of living index has affected the poor. The exemption limit of service tax should be increased to a reasonable limit, say `1 crore. This will enable the government to focus on the big fish and earn more revenue.

A Study in Contrasts
The package on two important states, UP The Down Staircase and Miles to Go…, was a great read. I was impressed by how fast Bihar is progressing on the development path. I am glad Nitish Kumar preferred building flyovers rather than his statues. It is all about having a good leader at the top.
