The Sennheiser X 320, a headgear for the XBox 360 console, is one hell of a looker. With its black and green war colours, it even looks like a Microsoft product. Despite its proportions, it's extremely light, and therefore, comfortable for long use. The X 320 comes with adequately cushy ear cups though we would have preferred the material to be thicker.

The noise reduction quality is phenomenal when you are using the mic. It reduces the volume of the background music so that your voice is heard crystal clear. The microphone comes with an easy switch-just flick it down and it's on, flick it up and it's off. This may not sound like cutting edge technology but this makes it convenient for the user, who else would scramble around to find the mute switch. The headset comes with a volume controller that sets independent audio levels for the game and voice according to your preferences. This means you can turn down the voice volume and avoid the nagging of your online competition. It also comes with bass boost. The best part about the sound quality is that whether it is a reload of a gun or tyres screeching, you get to feel as if you are right at the scene from where these sounds are emanating.

Now about the numerous wires that come with the X 320. There is the standard cable attached to the left ear of the headset which also has a USB jack. This cable is 4 metres long, giving you enough length to play with. Then there is the inline volume control which can be used by connecting a 2.5mm jack into a port on the volume control (which comes in the pack). To get ambient audio for gaming, plug a 3.5mm jack into a port on the USB, which is plugged into a power source, in this case the XBox. Then there are the red and white RCA cables, which have to plugged into the in-out ports. So yes you have to be a bit handy with wires but it's not as complicated as it sounds.

The X320 headgear is a good investment if you want to get into the thick of things in the gaming world. The sound quality transports you away from your living room to ground zero.
