The One V is the third sibling in the
HTC One family. While the
One X and the One S boast powerful processors, the One V comes with a 1Ghz single core processor but has its own charm.
DESIGN: The unibody design with a curved chin at the bottom reminds us of the popular HTC Legend. The dimensions and thickness are just perfect to hold or slide the phone in a pocket.
DISPLAY: The 3.7-inch display feels a bit small in front of the huge 4.7-inch One X. But it only took us a couple of days to get accustomed to the small screen. We could easily type using our thumbs in portrait mode as well.
INTERFACE: The One V is among the first few phones to run Android Ice-Cream Sandwich out of the box. The OS is overlaid by the HTC Sense UI as on the One X. It gives access to launch for apps from the locked screen and divides the main application tray into All, Frequent and Downloads.
CAMERA: The One V sports a 5 MP still camera with zero shutter lag. This means, even without the dedicated camera key, we were able to click images very quickly. This made capturing moving subjects and kids very easy. As we had noticed in the One X, even with this phone we were able to capture still images while shooting videos. The images captured were crisp and vibrant in colour.
PERFORMANCE: The 1Ghz single core processor along with 512 MB RAM manages daily tasks with ease. But it won't be able to handle heavy graphic games. Call clarity was good and so was the sound output using the Beats Audio. The dedicated multitasking key helped in quickly switching between the running apps. The 1500 mAh battery gave us a day's use with browsing, emails and calls.
BAG IT OR JUNK IT? It doesn't have heavy duty specs but is still a performer.
