Latest trends in menswear for holiday season

Men's fashion is in an escapist mood. Take a tour of the latest trends as we impart fresh-off-the-runway wisdom for this holiday season.
It is one of the first things we noticed on the runway: the infiltration of the outdoors in the spring/summer menswear this year. From Armani's chic and jetsetting man to Louis Vuitton's safari guy, even Prada's playful boy on a bike, the impressions are of a man with many shades of mobility. Here's a round-up of the top runway trends from around the world where designers reveal their interpretation of a man on holiday. There are sturdy oldschool trunks paired with trenches and lightweight, care-a-damn jackets thrown over paisley-printed shirts. The look is completed with the hats, the shades, and the swagger. After all, the way a man dresses up in his off-duty time says the most about his style.

PRINT SUPREME

Here's your crazy for the day: florals on a man. There seems to be no challenging these prints as top designers opt for head-to-toe cover-ups or match combinations and clashes.

OFF THE RUNWAY
Thinking of giving risque a go? Nice. But our style advice- strong prints must be used in isolation. Wear them over solid colours.

RETRO NUMBER

Remember Jean Dujardin in The Artist? He was flamboyant and restrained all at once. The runways take a cue this season from the bygone era with influences from the 30s and the 80s.

OFF THE RUNWAY

Have fun pairing plaid pants with stripes. Revisit the old with high-waisted trousers worn with a pair of suspenders.

THE MINIMALIST

It's a look designers call 'delave' which refers to clothing that's faded with use. Make no mistake, the tailoring is immaculate with colours that are kept subtle.

OFF THE RUNWAY

For your own interpretaion of the delave, go for neutral shades of light blue, cream, and grey. Then pair them with a bright piece.

ACCESSORISE THIS

The accessories this season are about timeless style rather than disposable fashion. Straw hats, silk scarves, comfortable shoes, and trendy luggage-the look you want is 'classic'.

OFF THE RUNWAY
To update your sartorial statement, pick up an acessory that reflects the mood of your ensemble.

NOIR NOISE

Black is back on the ramp. With contemporary impressions like sporty silhouettes, mesh details, and tony elements, it is the new cool.

OFF THE RUNWAY
Don't sweat over the dark hues. Keep the fabrics breathable and the cuts classic. Throw in some colour in the form of accessories.

JACKET CALL

Jackets-everything from the slimfitted double-breasted ones to the knee-grazing trenches-are your goto cover ups when the temperature dips. They are practical and stylish with a sharper fit than the ones you saw on Ernest Shackleton.

OFF THE RUNWAY
There's a jacket for every mood. Cut a dapper figure with exacting slim-fit ones.

THE BIG EASY

{mosimage}This year's spring/summer also shifts focus to wearable fashion. Think soft fabrics and roomier pants paired with spunky hues. It is styling that's all about old-school downtime.

OFF THE RUNWAY Bring back the lazy with knee-length cotton shorts paired with button-down collar shirt and derby shoes for a failsafe route to staying smart in the sun.
