Cycling, Running and Swimming- the three-fold rule book for any firness enthusiast. But is a daily workout good enough? The stress levels are soaring and a competitive edge to your regimen challenges and rejuvenates the body and mind. Here are a few handy tips to improve your cycling speed and peddle your way to improved endurance.
The Technique
Two words: Interval Training. Implement a series of high-speed sprints, followed by an active recovery at lower speeds in between. To avoid rupturing muscles, begin with a warm up of 10 minutes of peddling at a steady speed of 10km per hour. Next, take a breather of one minute and begin your high speed sprint of 25km per hour. Follow this up with a three minute low speed sprint. Do three sets of the routine with 10-minute intervals.
Quick Tips
Be realistic and set smaller goals like 50km every month and increase your speed by one mile an hour. Pin a heart rate monitor to know exactly how much you've exerted and how much more pressure you can handle. A chocolate flavoured protein shake and a post-workout power nap refreshes and enhances the effect.
