Neha Kirpal, 32, is riding high on the success of India Art Fair, the annual exhibition of modern and contemporary art she began in 2008. Kirpal recalls the time when the fair was just her dream. "When I pitched the idea, I was told the National Gallery of Modern Art gets just 18,000 visitors annually," she says.
In contrast, the fair has had 260,000 visitors since 2008. Kirpal now wants to use the fair to take India further on the global art scene. Most of the world has already taken notice of the fair. In 2008, 34 galleries, all from India, participated in it; this year, there were more than 100 galleries from 22 countries.
In the past year, Kirpal has brought in two partners with immense experience in promoting art - Will Ramsay and Sandy Angus - to scale up and realise her global ambitions.
Biggest Challenge
To deliver something in a sustainable manner in terms of both quality and value
