Top floor, please

With a Bachelor's in political science and Master's in social work, Shubha Arora could have joined the media or the social sector. But she opted for the corporate world and today, at 37, she is the youngest member of the escalator and elevator giant's India A-team. Last month, at the World HRD Congress, Arora bagged the Women's Super Achiever Award.

"When I joined Schindler India as an HR executive, we were just 30 people," she recalls. In 2004, she was named HR Head of Schindler India. "We have grown substantially... to 700 people today...and still maintain a culture of transparency...that is my biggest source of pride," adds Arora.

And how is it being the youngest member of the management team? "This is a male-dominated industry. Initially, I would wonder if I should speak at meetings or not...," she recalls. "But, I realised that everybody has a role. That's the great thing about Schindler."
