{mosimage}Smart wristwatches became the topic of conversation last year and Samsung has been forced to come up with one. Its Galaxy Gear watches pair only with only a few select Samsung smartphones and not just any Android phone. The brushed metal casing with the striking rubber strap makes the device look attractive. A single button powers up the display and turns it off too. Double clicking the button launches S Voice. The rest of the navigation is carried out by swiping the display.

The 1.6-inch display with 320x320 pixel resolution is sharp. There is a 1.9-megapixel camera added to the strap that can be launched by swiping from top to bottom. But picture quality is poor. Swiping downwards also helps to retrace one's steps. Left and right swipes give access to all the apps such as logs, contacts, phone dialer, image gallery and pedometer. Calls can be answered directly from the watch. But we had to bring it near the ear to hear clearly. This smartwatch is accompanied by a charging dock and a wall charger. It cannot be directly charged but has to be placed in the dock which has a USB port.

-Camera isn't as good as advertised
-Pairs only wtih select phones
-Comes with a cradle to charge

Ratings: 3.5/5
Bag it or junk it: Wait for some time as Samsung may announce the Gear 2 soon.
