What is it?
G1 is the first device to feature Google’s brand new mobile operating system Android.

What is so special about it?
Google’s operating system is based on Linux and is completely open, meaning that developers can design applications for the device, which comes loaded with a host of Google applications.

When can I buy one?
Currently, the G1 is only available on the US T-Mobile network but the handset, made by HTC, should be available in India this year.

Is it any good?
Well, we will have to wait and see, but don’t expect Apple or Nokia to take G1 lying down. The Finnish manufacturer’s riposte in the shape of the Tube has hit the market.
