The unveiling revealed a beautifully renovated airport that makes you want to linger instead of heading straight to your gate. Reinventing itself to woo the airport shopper, the airport authority has signed a fiveyear-long contract with the German duty-free operator Gebr. Heinemann this March, and is all set to line up consumer-focused events, including food and wine tastings of an elaborate nature. So the next time you make a stop at Copenhagen airport, don't go looking for the junk food staple.
Instead, ask for a platter of poached cod and roast pork with crackling skin and pair it with a shot of neat aquavit.
And if that's not reason enough to transit through it, a recent survey revealed that Copenhagen airport, which saw 22.7 million passengers in 2011, received the highest score of 7.08 out of 10, making it Europe's friendliest airport. Paris' Charles de Gaulle, the second busiest airport in Europe, was the rudest in the region.
