Will the Indian Cricket League eat into BCCI'S revenues?
Maybe. Sanjay Behl, Marketing & Branding Head, Reliance Communications
Competition is always good; so, the launch of ICL is going to give another dimension to the sport. As an advertiser, we are constantly looking to get the best exposure for our brands at the most optimum rates. Right now, we are the sponsors for the ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa.
No. Sundar Raman, MD, MindShare
I don't think ICL will eat into BCCI's advertising revenues. At the moment, it is offering only the on-air sponsorship and not event association at all levels. Then, in cricket advertising, there is a lot of space for both to grow without either one losing out. The real winner will be Team India which will be to the advantage of everyone.
Yes. Anirban Das Blah, VP, Globosport
I think BCCI will lose some revenues. All brands that found cricket unaffordable will now move to ICL. Advertising rates are prohibitive when India is playing, so BCCI will see some diversion of funds from its kitty.
