Microsoft Kumo

What is it? It is the codename for Microsoft’s new search technology. Is something wrong with the current technology? No, but Microsoft wants its search technology to be “significantly better” than Google’s.

Is Google that dominant? Yes, remember Microsoft’s protracted struggle to take control of Yahoo! was essentially for Yahoo!’s search technology.

Will it work? Microsoft is still #3 in search and maybe, just maybe ‘Kumo’ might work.

When will it be launched? On May 25-26 at the “All Things D” technology summit in San Diego, US.
