IIM-A offers better return on investment than Stanford, Harvard

IIM-A offers better return on investment than Stanford, Harvard

The top Indian business school has been ranked fourth among the 20 business schools, when it comes to churning out 'Good value MBAs'.

Studying at  the IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A) earns you more return on your investment , compared to Harvard or Stanford, a study by The Economist magazine says.

The top Indian business school has been ranked fourth among the 20 business schools, when it comes to churning out 'Good value MBAs'.

The prestigious US business schools- Harvard, Stanford, Chicago Booth and ULCA Anderson have been ranked 17th, 18 th, 14 th and 13th respectively against benchmarks like forgone salary, tuition fees and post-MBA salary.

While a graduate from IIM-A earns 44% return on investment (ROI) after one year, passouts from Harvard, Stanford, Chicago Booth and ULCA Anderson get just 15%, 14% 18% and 20% ROI, respectively on their degrees.

HEC Paris (France), Aston (Britain) and University of Hong Kong have been ranked among the top three among the 20 business schools in the list.

The study further says two-year courses at prestigious American institutions are the most expensive. An MBA at Wharton costs $330,000 on average, in part because it enrolls well-paid executives. But the immediate return on such degrees is small.

Graduates tend to land jobs just a few notches above the ones they left. Cheaper, shorter MBAs around the world offer better returns, it adds.
