Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer follows Warren Buffet in charity lunch auction

After billionaire Warren Buffet's eBay auction for a power lunch, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer too has auctioned off a lunch opportunity with herself to raise money for charity.

The one-hour lunch with the internet company's CEO will be held at its Sunnyvale headquarters in California.

According to reports, Mayer has launched the auction on the bidding site 'Charitybuzz' that has received the latest bid of $41,500. Eighty per cent of the winning bid will be donated to the Aspire East Palo Alto Charter School. Charitybuzz will take the rest 20 per cent.

Charitybuzz's CEO Coppy Holzman said more people from the field of technology are aiming at the superstar status and people such as Tim Cook and Marissa Mayer absolutely have the star power.

The auction will end on June 27.
