
Shares of Eros International gained over 4 per cent in trade on Tuesday after the movie production and distribution firm said the recently released Bollywood film "Bajirao Mastani" has mopped up Rs 90.80 crore in three days.
The stock ended 2.93 per cent higher after hitting an intraday high of Rs 258.90, up 4.06 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
" 'Bajirao Mastani' ended the opening weekend on a big high collecting Rs 90.80 crore worldwide - Rs 60.80 crore gross (Rs 46.77 crore net box office collection) in India and Rs 30 crore ($4.5 million) overseas," Eros International said in a statement.
The film, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, showed an upward graph through the weekend with collections showing a jump of 21 per cent on Saturday over Friday and 44 per cent on Sunday over Friday in multiplexes across India, it said.
Eros released "Bajirao Mastani" on December 18 across 3,750 screens worldwide and expects the showcasing to further increase to meet demand in the next week.
"With at least 2 weeks of holidays and no new releases ahead, we expect the film to continue growing," Eros International Media Senior Vice President India Theatrical Nandu Ahuja said.
