
Shares of Tata Motors went up by 2 per cent on Thursday as the company reported a 9 per cent growth in in global car sales, including those of Jaguar Land Rover, in March.
Tata Motors had on Wednesday reported a growth of 9 per cent in global sales, at 1,03,952 units in March as against 95,668 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
In the passenger vehicles segment, global car sales in the month under review stood at 65,466 units, up 16 per cent, as compared to 56,420 units in March 2014, the company had said in a statement on Wednesday.
Sales of luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover rose by 16 per cent to 50,093 units during the month as compared to 43,311 units during the same month a year ago.
The scrip rose by 1.38 per cent to trade at Rs 550.80 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
On the National Stock Exchange, Tata Motors shares climbed up by 1.99 per cent to Rs 551.25 per scrip.
