Famous personalities who tested positive during the second surge

India is once again on high alert as the battle to overcome the pandemic is not over. Fresh curbs have been announced in various parts of the country that have witnessed a surge in cases.The number of cases continues to rise with Maharashtra seeing the highest spike. The disease has not left politicians and film stars untouched. Bollywood's Manoj Bajpayee, Ranbir Kapoor are among the latest to test positive for COVID-19. Here is the list of famous people who have recently contracted the virus and are under home quarantine.

Manoj Bajpayee

Actor

Actor Manoj Bajpayee tested positive for  coronavirus this week. He caught the infection while shooting for his upcoming film 'Despatch'.The film's director, Kanu Behl, is also infected.
The actor is currently in home quarantine and is recovering well.

Ranbir Kapoor

Actor

Actor Ranbir Kapoor also tested positive for COVID-19. The actor's mother actor Neetu Kapoor confirmed Ranbir's COVID diagnosis on Instagram. Sharing a pic of the actor, she wrote, "Thank you for your concern and your good wishes. Ranbir has tested positive for Covid-19. He is on medication and recovering well. He is in self-quarantine at home and following all precautions."
After Ranbir tested positive, fans were worried if Alia Bhatt too, had tested positive for COVID-19 since the two were shooting together for their upcoming movie Brahmastra. Sharing the news with fans, Alia Bhatt took to Instagram and shared with her fans that she has tested negative for Covid-19.
Alia Bhatt, who is currently dating Ranbir Kapoor, shared a photo on Instagram with a caption, "Major missing," along with a heart emoji.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Filmmaker

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali also tested positive for COVID-19. He had been directing Alia Bhatt- starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi in Mumbai's Goregaon Film City. The filmmaker and entire cast and crew of the film have quarantined themselves and are undergoing COVID tests.

Sunil Chhetri

Captain, Indian football team

Widely popular Indian football team captain and star striker Sunil Chhetri also confirmed that he has tested positive for Covid-19.  Chhetri took to twitter and wrote, "In a not-so-happy update, I've tested positive for Covid-19. In better news, I feel fine as I continue my recovery from the virus and should be back on a football pitch soon."

Manpreet Singh Badal

Finance minister, Punjab

Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Friday confirmed that he was covid positive.  Badal had presented the budget for  fiscal 2021-22 in the state assembly on March 8. "I would like to inform everyone that I have tested positive for COVID-19. I will be quarantining for the next several days and hope for a speedy recovery," Badal wrote on his Twitter handle.
"My humble appeal to all who have come in direct contact with me in the last few days to please get yourself tested and follow all necessary precautions. It is our responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe, thus preventing any further spread of the virus," Badal added in another tweet.
