If Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat were countries

Facebook's huge user population has been compared to a host of things. According to Facebook's January 2018 report, the social networking giant has seen an increase in the number of people visiting the platform at least once a month to 2.13 billion - way more than the current population of China at 1.41 billion. India tops the country-wise list with 250 million, followed by the US at 230 million.   

With over 1.5 billion monthly active users and nearly 60 billion messages every day, Facebook's largest acquisition, Whatsapp, too, could have been the most populated country in the world. WhatsApp Status features have 300 million daily active users and the recently-launched WhatsApp Business feature is hoping to be the next big thing in business messaging, worldwide.

The photo-sharing (video too) app owned by Facebook, has over 800 million monthly and 500 million daily active users and is much higher than the population of the US at 327 million. The number of users have doubled since September 2015. Nearly all users are engaging on the mobile app and Instagram is now looking to add voice- and video-calling features to counter Snapchat.

The micro-blogging platform with over 330 million monthly active users can compete with the US in terms of population. Saudi Arabia has the highest percentage of internet users who are active on the site. Recently, Twitter Inc. had posted recorded gains in revenue, driven by its video content initiative and more advertisement content. Twitter's revenue per employee is at $488,913.

Snapchat with its 290 million-plus user base is just above Indonesia, a country with a population of  270 million. The youngest member of the social media giants (by the age of its audience and its own), creates more than 400 million Snapchat stories per day. Active Snapchatters open the app almost 18-plus time every day and more than 20,000 photos are shared every second.

There are about 500 million people currently using LinkedIn. With the number of monthly active users at 250 million, the professional networking site beats Brazil's population of 220 million.
