Best Music Video: Freedom

Multi-genre artist Jon Batiste emerged as the big winner, with five trophies, including Album of the Year for We Are at the Grammy 2022. Batiste went into the ceremony with 11 nominations. Batiste won best American roots performance, best American roots song, best score soundtrack for visual media (which tied with Carlos Rafael Rivera's score for The Queen's Gambit) and best music video for "Freedom."

Best New Artist: Olivia Rodrigo

Rodrigo won over fellow nominees Arooj Aftab, Jimmie Allen, Baby Keem, FINNEAS, Glass Animals, Japanese Breakfast, The Kid LAROI, Arlo Parks, and Saweetie.

Record of the Year: Leave the Door Open

Bruno Mars-led Silk Sonic (Brandon Anderson, Christopher Brody Brown and Dernst Emile II) won Record of the Year award at the Grammys 2022 for 'Leave The Door Open.'

Best Rock Song: Waiting on a War

Best Rock Album: Medicine at Midnight

Rock band Foo Fighters won Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song. Sadly, Foo Fighters weren't at the Grammys this year following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins; they were meant to perform.

Best Rock Performance: Making a Fire

The Foo Fighters won Best Rock Performance for “Making a Fire.” Interestingly, Foo Fighters have managed to won every Grammy they were nominated for at the ceremony. Foo Fighters Sweep at Grammys Following Death of Taylor Hawkins.

New Jersey singer SZA took home her first Grammy Award, winning with pop superstar Doja Cat for the bright, groovy song 'Kiss Me More' for best pop duo/group performance. SZA, arriving on to the stage on crutches due to an injury, said, “Thank you everyone, thank you to my momma, thank you God.”

Doja Cat, during the ceremony, added, “SZA, you are everything to me, you are incredible, you are the epitome of talent, you’re a lyricist, you’re everything.”

Album of the Year: We Are

Jon Batiste won Album of the Year for his latest LP We Are and managed to beat out Kanye West (also known as Ye), Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, and Doja Cat. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, H.E.R., and Justin Bieber were also in the running for the award.

Batiste, as he accepted the award, said, "I am so grateful for the gifts God has given me and the ability to share that for the love of humankind."

Best Rap Performance: Family Ties

Baby Keem's "Family Ties" featuring Kendrick Lamar won the Best Rap Performance award at the 64th annual Grammy Awards. Interestingly, this was Baby Keem's first Grammy and Kendrick Lamar's 14th win.

Best Dance/Electronic Recording: Alive

Rüfüs Du Sol, Sydney-based dance trio comprising members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt, won their first Grammy  award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for their song Alive.

Best R&B Performance: Leave The Door Open

The group project of Bruno Mars, Brandon Anderson, Christopher Brody Brown and Dernst Emile II also won Best R&B Song as well as Best R&B Performance.

Best Pop Solo Performance: Drivers license

Singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo also took home the trophy for Best Pop Solo Performance for her chart-topping number 'drivers license' and Best Pop Vocal Album for her debut album 'Sour.' "This is my biggest dream come true. Thank you so much!" she said as she held her trophy.

Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical: Love for Sale

Jazz singer Tony Bennett (95) has become the second-oldest winner of a Grammy Award. Bennett, together with pop superstar Lady Gaga, won the Grammy for traditional pop vocal album for 2021’s “Love for Sale.”

Best Dance/Electronic Album: Black Coffee

Black Coffee won his first-ever Grammy award, earned in the best dance/electronic album category. The win also marks the first time a South African producer has won or been nominated in this category.

The artist, during the ceremony, said that, “I want to thank God for the gift of music and being able to share it with the world and heal some souls.” He also pointed out that the young man onstage with him was his first-born son Esona, and that he has five children back home in Johannesburg.

Best Contemporary Instrumental Album: Tree Falls

For albums containing approximately 51% or more playing time of instrumental material, American jazz pianist and composer Taylor Eigsti won aginst Randy Brecker & Eric Marienthal, Rachel Eckroth, Steve Gadd Band and Mark Lettieri at the Grammys 2022.
