India Inc embracing pet-friendly workplaces

Various studies have concluded, including one from American Pet Products Association, that having a pet at the workplace can reduce stress and boost productivity of the employees.

Workplaces across India have started promoting pet friendly spaces where dogs are free to roam around within the office space. Not just this, some offices celebrate monthly pet days where employees bring their pets to work.

Here are some of the workplaces in India which allow furry guests to step in to make the work environment friendly and stress-free.

Anshika Awasthi

Google

Canine friends are the integral facet of our corporate culture, as per Google's dog friendly policy. The company is super cool about the idea of employees bringing their furry friends to the office where are attended by caregivers. The company, however, does not allow cats as 'cats visiting our offices would be fairly stressed out'.

Zerodha

Online brokerage Zerodha adopts and maintains strays as office mascot. Nitin Kamath, founder of the company, found an abandoned dog in the lift, who they named Zero afterwards. Zero has gelled well with office employees along with four more dogs. Whole office keeps feeding them with chicken kabab and ghee rice.

InMobi

InMobi, one of most successful start-ups, also allows its employees to bring pets at work. At InMobi, employees can bring kids and pets to the workplace. The employees use the opportunity to regularly bring their pets to work, especially on weekends.
InMobi also has its own Chief Cuddling Officer Becky who is a Persian cat.

OnePlus India

Dogs can roam around the entire OnePlus India office freely. For OnePlus, pet-friendly offices is a part of work culture. In fact, the China office of the smartphone maker has a in-house dog called Una, who is the company mascot and their very own happiness specialist. The team carried the idea in India and adopted Laila who is now Chief Happiness Officer.

Chaayos

Dogs and cats both are welcomed at Chaayos' corporate office. The company's co-founders, who are pet owners themselves, say that dogs work as great stress relievers for their busy team.

Chumbak

At Chumbak, even you as a customer can bring your dog to their Indiranagar store in Bengaluru. Employees of the company are often seen playing with their in-house canine buddy Hugo during short breaks between work. It is rejuvenating and helps employees be more productive, says Shubhra Chadda, co-founder, Chumbak.

Urban Company

Urban Company, formerly Urbanclap, allows its employees to bring pets to work. The company celebrates pet days where staff can bring pets along with them to the office.
