Opulence is celebrating luxury! Sounds paradoxical but quite a few global celebrities are now followed for their simple and minimal lifestyle. Despite having huge wealth under their belt, they have made minimalism their USP. From traveling in public transport to giving away most of their fortune, here is how some celebrities are living their best life as a minimalist.

What is Minimalism?

Minimalism, simply put, is living with minimum possible means. A minimalist prefers to keep it basic with less material things. Anyone who likes to keep things very simple can be called a Minimalist.

Keanu Reeves

Matrix star Keanu Reeves is widely known as one of Hollywood's most humble stars. Despite having massive wealth, he uses public transport to travel and sports modest clothes. It is even said that the actor gave away 85 per cent of the money he bagged from his role in the movie, 'The Matrix' to the special effects and costume design team.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio has donated a vast amount of his wealth to environmental charities. In 2015, the actor donated a whooping sum of $15 million for environmental conservation through his organisation. The Titanic star also founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation at the age of 24 in 1988. It is dedicated to the long-term health and well-being of all Earth's inhabitants.

Robert Pattison

Twilight star Robert Pattison also comes in the list of celebs who practice minimalism. The actor is said to own a guitar as the only possession he has spent quite a lot of money on. He has also stated that he isn't interested in comforts and possessions.

Julia Roberts

Superstar Julia Roberts is also known for her simple lifestyle. She is usually seen wearing simple jeans and t-shirt when spotted outside. The actor is also said to have spent most of her career living on small private ranches and farms.

J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling became a billionaire with her highest-selling novel, 'Harry Potter'. She is also the founder of Lumos, formerly known as Children's High Level Group, which is an NGO that promotes institutionalisation of children worldwide. She also believes in living an ordinary life and stays completely aloof from her fame.

Mark Zuckerberg

Tech millionaire Mark Zuckerberg likes to keep it simple. One can rarely find him wearing anything fancy other than a simple t-shirt and jeans. Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have also pledged to donate 99 per cent of their Facebook shares to the cause of human advancement.

Warren Buffet

Warren Buffet is regarded as one of the most generous philanthropists in the world. Buffett started investing in the stock market at the age of 11. He still lives in a modest home in Omaha, Nebraska, which he bought for $31,500 in 1958. In fact, in one of his interviews, Buffet said that he never had any desire to have multiple houses and all kinds of things and multiple cars.

Buffet also doesn't seem to have much interest in spending on technology, particularly not when it comes to buying a phone. He uses a flip phone instead of a smartphone.
The 90-year-old has decided to give away nearly all his fortune to philanthropic causes by the time he dies.
He donated $2.9 billion worth of stock to nonprofit groups this year in July.
