News in Infographics: FedEx's new CEO, Crypto tax, Dermicool acquisition, & more

Indian American corporate veteran Raj Subramaniam will be the new Chief Executive Officer of the delivery giant FedEx, as per an official release. Subramaniam will replace Frederick W Smith in the role with effect from June 1. Smith will take office as the executive chairman from June 1.

Homegrown FMCG company Emami’s latest acquisition bid has the potential to make it a Rs 4,000 crore company within the next two years. The firm has announced its takeover bid for the prickly heat brand Dermicool from Reckitt Benckiser against Rs 432 crore.

While the Lok Sabha has passed the Finance Bill 2022 that introduced a new scheme to tax crypto gains at a flat rate of 30 per cent from April 1, 2022, questions abound on the tax treatment of past profits earned from cryptocurrencies. So, what happens if one books gains from cryptos on or before March 31, 2022? Do new income tax rules say one still has to pay tax at 30 per cent?

Naveen Kulkarni, Chief Investment Officer, Axis Securities believes that the benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty will continue to deliver a double-digit return to investors in FY23.

He says, "Investors should focus on the asset allocation based on the risk appetite and the timeline of the investment."

British motorcycle maker Triumph, on Tuesday, launched its most affordable bike in the Tiger line-up, ‘Tiger Sport 660,’ in India at an introductory price of Rs 8.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tiger Sport 660, which is an adventure sports tourer motorcycle based on the company’s already available Trident 660, is Rs 1.50 lakh more expensive than its sibling.
