Reliance Industries second only to Apple, on biggest global brands list

Mukesh Ambani-led oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance Industries has been ranked the second biggest brand followed by Apple on the FutureBrand Index 2020.
The FutureBrand Index is a global brand perception study based on the PwC Global Top 100 Companies by market capitalisation. It ranks the companies on brand perception strength, rather than just the financial strength.
According to the report, Ambani-helmed company RIL is "very well respected" and "seen as behaving ethically", adding that it has been associated with "growth", "great customer service" and "innovative products".

Here are the top 10 biggest global brands that are leading the index in 2020

1- Apple

Tech giant Apple, whose global ranking of the year 2018 was fourth is now on top of the pile. The brand's total valuation stands at $1,113 bn.

2- Reliance Industries Limited

Oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance-Industries ranked 91 on PwC's 2020 list and second on FutureBrand 2020 index. Part of Reliance's success can be attributed to Mukesh Ambani's recasting of the firm as a one-stop-shop for Indians. The brand's total market capitalisation stands at $94 bn.

3- Samsung

Samsung Electronics ranked 21 on PWC's 2020 list and third on FutureBrand Index 2020. The brand's market capitalisation stands at $234 bn.

4- Nvidia Corp

The PWC 2020 position of the brand stands at 41 while it is at number four on FutureBrand Index 2020. The total market capitalization of the brand stands at $161 bn. Nvidia Corporation is an American multinational technology company that designs graphics processing units for gaming and professional markets.

5- Kweichow Moutai

Chinese liquor group Kweichow Moutai's PWC 2020 ranking is 28. It stands at number five position on FutureBrand Index. The brand's market valuation is $197 bn.

6- Nike

Nike's PWC 2020 ranking is 57 and is at number six on FutureBrand Index. The total market capitalisation of the consumer goods brand is $129 bn.

7- Microsoft

Microsoft's PWC ranking 2020 stands at number 2 while it stands at number seven on FutureBrand Index. The company has recently launched a new Your Phone app which enables users to access their Android phone apps directly from their Windows 10 desktops.

8- ASMIL Holdings

The tech giants' PWC 2020 position is 71 while it is at the eighth position on the current FutureBrand Index. Its total market valuation is $113 bn.  Founded on April 1, 1984, in Veldhoven, Netherlands, ASML Holding NV deals with the development, production, marketing, sale and servicing of advanced semiconductor equipment, consisting of lithography related systems.

9- PayPal

PayPal's 2020 PWC position is  75 while it ranks ninth on FutureBrand Index 2020. Its market valuation stands at $112 bn. PayPal is an American company operating worldwide online payments system that supports online money transfers.

10- Netflix

The popular OTT platform Netflix is at number 10 on the list. The brand which ranked 15 in the 2018 FutureBrand Index has moved up five places. Its PWC rank is 39 and market valuation stands at $165 bn.
