Maruti Suzuki has launched the Swift Limited Edition in India before the latest model upgrade of its most popular hatchback hits the Indian market. Available in both petrol and diesel variants, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition has been priced Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol option and Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel option.
With this price tag, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition will be placed between base L-series models and mid V-series models of the hatchback. While some cosmetic changes have been made to the exterior of the car, the Limited Edition also gets more features inside in comparison to the base model.
There are decals running along the bonnet, roof and doors of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition to accentuate the sporty look of the hatchback. Inside the car, the limited edition Swift gets dual-tone seat upholstery and steering wrap to match the design scheme seen on the exterior of the car. A new infotainment system has been added to the Maruti Suzuki Swift with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, taken from premium cars by the Maruti Suzuki like Ignis, Baleno and S-Cross.
In addition to these, the Swift Limited Edition will also get speakers with extra base and floor mats, and alloy wheels.
The motor under the hood remains the same, though. The Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition will be driven by the usual 1.2-litre petrol engine or the 1.3-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine can dish out 83bhp of max power and 115Nm of max torque, whereas the diesel engine can go up to 74bhp of top power and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines will come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki has launched the limited edition of Swift in Indian markets when the new avatar is scheduled to arrive here in 2018. The possible strategy behind launching Maruti Suzuki Swift Limited Edition could be to clear stocks of the older model. While the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is likely to come with an automated manual transmission, it would be interesting to see whether buyers opt for the limited edition or wait for the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift.
