It's that time of the year again when the
tech industry is anxiously waiting for the next iPhone to be announced. Looking at the invite shared by Apple last week, it is likely that the company will
unveil the iPhone 5 on Wednesday at a press event in San Francisco.
Being among the
best kept secrets of the industry , here is what the rumours are suggesting about the iPhone 5:
1. Sleek Design: The iPhone 4 underwent a complete design makeover with the iPhone 4S following the footprint. With the new iPhone likely to be named as the iPhone 5, we can expect some action on the design front as well. The iPhone 5 can have a sleek design with a unibody aluminum casing and a modified antenna.
2. Bigger Display: Smartphones are enjoying
bigger and better display . There are strong rumours and leaked images suggesting that the iPhone 5 will have a large 3.9/4 inch display. This was expected to happen last year with the launch of the iPhone 4S as well, but Apple continued with the 3.5 inch display. Whether the company will increase the display size is something we will discover in less than 36 hours from now.
3. Mini Dock Connector:
It is likely that Apple will ditch its widely
criticised proprietary dock connector and come up with a mini dock connector USB cable. Rumours suggest that the company will also launch an adapter to address the concerns about accessory compatibility.
4. Nano SIM: Two years ago, Apple introduced the microSIM with the iPhone 4. It is widely believed that the iPhone 5 will support nano SIM. Nano SIM cards are small as well as sleek. So unlike microSIM, nano SIMs can't be created by chopping the regular SIM cards.
5. 4G LTE: With 4G LTE making its way to the new iPad, there are chances that the iPhone 5 will include LTE connectivity. According to reports, the 4G chipset on the next iPhone will work across multiple countries and will not be restricted like the new iPad.
6. Battery: With battery hogging features like LTE onboard, Apple could have worked upon having a better battery that can last much longer.
Running on the iOS 6, enhanced processor and RAM, better camera optics and
NFC are a few more areas where we can expect some action.
Nearing the launch, rumours and speculations are getting stronger. But with Apple you can never be sure, as the company has a history of coming up with innovative products, no one has ever thought of.
