
Phase 1 countries announced in a press statement after the keynote address include the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK.
Apple also announced in its keynote that 115 countries will be able to experience the two phones by the end of this year.
While India is nowhere on the list, last night, the Apple India website stated that the new iPhone 6 will be available in the country starting September 26.
But it seems there was some typo error as the date has been now revised to October 17.
It is very unlike Apple as the company has never announced the dates beyond the first phase launch countries this early.
While the Apple smartphones are available in offline retail channel from the launch date, Apple website has stated Airtel and Aircel Stores for the same.
Earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook had acknowledged that iPhone sales in the country beat all expectations to soar 400 per cent in the April-June quarter.
Last year, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were launched in India in the third phase. The iPhone 5S received overwhelming response and was sold out on the launch day itself. Later, the smartphone was retailing in the grey market at a higher cost.
