Apple TV price slashed to Rs 5,900 in India

Apple TV, a digital media player and a microconsole manufactured by Apple, is now up for grabs at a new price of Rs 5,900. The device operates on a small network appliance and entertainment device that can receive digital data from a number of sources and stream it to capable TV for playing on the TV screen.

Apple has not confirmed the price-cut but the discount is in effect globally. Snapdeal is already offering the device for an even cheaper price of Rs 5,691. The new price will be  roughly Rs.2,000 lesser than the previous price.

Google's Chromecast is a good competitor for Apple TV and is cheaper, even with the discount in place. The Chromecast is also better in terms of design and it makes the Apple TV look bulky. For revenue generation, Apple is betting on the content more than the device itself.
