Bajaj Auto scrip on Wednesday
climbed over 3 per cent to hit a record high after the company reported 13.14 per cent rise in motorcycle sales in December 2012.
Bajaj Auto has reported 13.14 per cent rise in motorcycle sales at 2,98,350 units in December 2012.
The company had sold 2,63,699 units in the corresponding month previous year, it said in a statement.
The company said exports increased by 5.27 per cent during the month at 1,26,016 units compared to 1,19,708 units in December 2011, it added.
Buoyed by the healthy sales number, shares of the country's second largest two-wheeler maker gained 3.6 per cent to touch a record high of Rs 2,214 on the Bombay Stock Exchange during the day. It finally ended at Rs 2,202.60, up 3.07 per cent.
The scrip was the top performer among the 30-share Sensex.
On the National Stock Exchange, the Bajaj Auto stock settled at Rs 2,209.90, up 3.66 per cent from its previous close.
In the broader market, the
BSE Sensex rose 133.43 points, or 0.68 per cent, on Wednesday.
