Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's much-talked about biopic, had a fair opening at the box office on Friday.
The movie, inspired by the life of former athlete and Olympian Milkha Singh, opened with an average 40-45 per cent collections at the multiplexes on the first day of its release.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag stars Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor in the lead and has director Mehra in a cameo too.
According to trade analysts at Boxofficeindia.com say that though the movie fared decently compared to some recent releases, the opening collections in the first half of the release day are disappointing taking into account the movie's budget.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, according to the film trade portal, is made on a budget of over Rs 50 crore.
Analysts said the opening may have been the highest where Farhan Akhtar's movie as a solo lead is concerned, but an ideal opening for this big budget biopic would have been over 60 per cent opening collections.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag's producers would now be banking on word-of-mouth appreciation to drive the movie's box office collections across the weekend and further.
