BlackBerry launches Passport in India for Rs 49,990

Running on BB OS 10.3, the device packs in a 2.2Ghz Snapdragon quad core processor and is paired with 3GB of RAM.

Aimed at the niche business audience, handset maker BlackBerry on Monday launched its new Passport smartphone in India.
The phone has a square display measuring 4.5-inch and also has a physical keypad. Its dimensions are similar to that of an actual passport.

Running on BB OS 10.3, the device packs in a 2.2Ghz Snapdragon quad core processor and is paired with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage is 32GB with an expandable memory card slot. The phone supports nano SIM and has a 13MP rear camera with advanced camera software. It also has a 3450 mAh non-removable battery.

The new OS has an improvised UI, a virtual assistant called BlackBerry Assistant, and a feature called BlackBerry Blend. This new feature allows users to access emails, BBM text and other notifications from the BlackBerry device on their Macs, PCs, iPad and Android tablets. For apps, in addition to the BlackBerry App World, it also has Amazon App Store preinstalled on the phone.

Priced at Rs 49,990, the Passport can be pre-booked at Amazon.in and all BlackBerry Stores starting today, till October 10.
